On October 5, 2024, we lost our friend, guide, and partner, Macdonald Budd. Many here at Manice Budd and Baggett LLP worked with Mr. Budd for several decades.
Every day, he demonstrated a kindness and compassion that earned the respect and loyalty of his colleagues and of his clients, many of whom he served until the very end. To those who knew him, we mourn your loss as much as we do ours. He certainly would have appreciated your caring thoughts, and so do we. His 50+ years of legal service is a testament to us all.
Mr. Budd is survived by his loving wife Agnes, two sons Macdonald and Anthony, and six grandchildren. As much as he loved his practice of law, his family was always his primary concern, and we share those priorities. Family always comes first. And so, on behalf of his “work family,” we say, thank you Mac. You will be missed.
In Memoriam
Katherine L. Baggett is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Vanderbilt Law School and focuses her practice on a variety of commercial, trust, and estate-related matters. She combines her extensive litigation background with in-house and non-profit experience to advise corporations and individuals on a range of matters including estate planning, trust administration, probate and administration proceedings, nonprofit formation, and alternative dispute resolution. Katherine has represented clients before state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions and has substantial experience before arbitration tribunals and in both private and court-supervised mediation proceedings.
As a law student, Katherine interned in The White House and with the Department of Homeland Security, followed by a position in the Communications & Rapid Response department for a national presidential campaign before beginning her legal career in 2005 as an associate with the Manhattan law firm Engel McCarney & Kenney LLP. She went on to work as an associate with Howrey LLP and as Senior Counsel with McKool Smith PC, both in New York.
Now a fixture in MB&B’s West Palm Beach office, Katherine originally joined the firm’s New York office from her in-house role as Senior Counsel for the NorthStar Group, owner of the nationally renowned music publication and website, The Source, where she was highly involved in litigation and mediation proceedings in In re the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson in Minnesota. With a passion for animal welfare and rescue, Katherine serves on the Animal Law Committee for the New York City Bar Association, is a member of the Animal Law Section of the Florida Bar, and serves on the Board of Directors for The Changing Leads Foundation, providing sponsorship funding to therapeutic equestrian programs for underserved at-risk youth.
